I’ve been perturbed this weekend. Everyone has me irritated about the England game from Saturday.
They won.
Can we all focus on this point for a hot second before we all chose to rip the players and tactics to shreds? It wasn’t just some flimsy win either. 5-1! We haven’t done that in 7 years. When we beat Germany 5-1, we wrote a song about it. I don’t see anyone at their piano, pen in hand, banging out notes and lyrics. Alas, everyone has been using their pens and laptops to write rubbish criticism of the winning team. WHAT’S GOING ON!?
The Lampard-Gerrard debate continues, even though both players played superbly, I thought. Frank didn’t have the best first half, but his 2 assists from set pieces were spot on. Gerrard seemed engaged and had good runs while supporting everyone at the same time. AND WE WON! They obviously didn’t lose the game for us, so what’s the argument?
There’s no England pride anymore and it depresses me.
Everyone needs to just shut the hell up.
WE FUCKING WON 5-1! SERIOUSLY!
